UNDP Geneva Director Agi Veres Visits Liechtenstein

March 25, 2026

On 25 March 2026, Ms. Agi Veres, Director of the Geneva Representation Office of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), visited Liechtenstein for high-level discussions with Deputy Prime Minister Sabine Monauni at the Government Building in Vaduz.

The exchange focused on Liechtenstein’s Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST) initiative, alongside broader priorities in multilateral development cooperation. Launched in 2018, FAST addresses the role of the global financial sector in combating human trafficking and modern slavery—criminal activities that generate an estimated USD 200 billion annually.

Hosted by UNDP since 2024, FAST works to strengthen regulatory frameworks and support public and private sector actors in advancing human rights-based approaches. It also promotes financial inclusion for survivors of trafficking, contributing to recovery and long-term reintegration. Through these efforts, the initiative supports progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda.

Discussions also underscored Liechtenstein’s continued commitment to FAST as a key component of the global response to human trafficking, supported by strong engagement from public institutions, philanthropic actors and the private sector.

The meeting further addressed the importance of international solidarity and multilateral cooperation in the face of growing global financing challenges.
