Gender Eye

Gender Eye

April 15, 2024

A review of UNDP’s Gender Journey in the Gambia, will reveal a historic and timely picture as the nation re-builds its infrastructure and economy. UNDP has been directly influencing national policy decisions and making tangible contributions to gender equality in key sectors of the economy, as visible in on-going debates and the discourse on transitional justice, security sector reforms, economic reconstruction, constitutional democracy, conflict prevention and building lasting peace and prosperity for all through its peace building project. It has also been internally preoccupied with transforming its systems and processes ensuring equity in the workplace under the Gender Equality Seal Certification.
A transformative gender equality vision has been embedded in the Country Programme Document for The Gambia (CPD, 2024-2028). The CPD is resonant with the gender equality commitments under the National Development Plan (NDP, 2023-2027) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF, 2024-2028).
