Financing the Future: Highlights from the global high-level event co-convened by the Kingdom of Morocco and UNDP during UNGA81
9 octobre 2026
On 23 September 2026, the Kingdom of Morocco and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) co-convened the high-level event “Financing the Future: Partnerships between Public and Private Actors to Invest in Development” on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The event brought together ministers, United Nations leaders, development banks, financial institutions and private-sector representatives to explore practical ways of mobilizing investment for inclusive and sustainable development. Participants emphasized that public resources alone cannot meet today’s development financing needs.
Public-private partnerships, blended finance, guarantees and stronger project pipelines can help reduce investment risks and attract capital at scale—when grounded in transparency, inclusion and national development priorities. Drawing on Morocco’s experience, the discussions also examined how regional, South-South and triangular cooperation can help mobilize financing, particularly across Africa.
Key areas of discussion
Building credible and investment-ready project pipelines
Strengthening governance and enabling investment environments
Scaling up blended finance, guarantees and risk-sharing instruments
Mobilizing domestic and international private capital
Expanding regional and South-South cooperation
Ensuring that investment delivers measurable development impact
