UNDP Egypt at a Glimpse

A partnership between the Government of Egypt and UNDP towards “Egypt’s Green and Inclusive Development”

UNDP in Egypt's partnership with Egypt, which dates back to 1953, has evolved through decades of collaboration, resulting in a robust and diverse programme that supports the Government’s goals across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. This 71-year-long relationship reaffirms our commitment to Egypt’s sustainable development and green transition. From our early work with the United Nations Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance (ETPA) to the present, UNDP has been a valuable partner, continuously adapting to Egypt’s evolving needs.

UNDP works with the Government of Egypt and national partners to advance sustainable and inclusive development, empowering communities, fostering innovation and driving solutions for people and planet. Guided by Egypt Vision 2030 and the UNDP Country Programme (2023–2027), our priorities include:

Digital Transformation & Innovation – Advancing Egypt’s “Digital Egypt” agenda, strengthening AI capabilities, and promoting anti-corruption and governance reforms.

Social Protection & Health – Addressing poverty through data-driven policy solutions, expanding digital health services, and reinforcing national efforts against HIV, TB, and other health challenges.

Environment & Energy – Supporting conservation, sustainable tourism, climate resilience, and Egypt’s transition to clean energy through policy innovation and public-private partnerships.

Governance – Enhancing transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration while fostering an environment that attracts sustainable investment.

Local Development & Resilience – Strengthening decentralization, empowering communities, and ensuring sustainable development solutions for host communities and forcibly displaced populations.

Across all our work, youth, gender equality, persons with disabilities, private sector engagement, innovation and South-South cooperation remain at the heart of our approach.

“Our mission is to empower people and institutions to build a future that is inclusive, resilient and green, for every person in every community.”
