LocationsUNDP LIF signed a contract for the Rehabilitation of Kouklia/Kukla Reservoir funded by the EU

Nicosia, 8 November 2022 – UNDP, with the financial support of the European Union, signed a contract on 31 October 2022 for the Rehabilitation of Kouklia/Kukla Reservoir with a duration of 5 months, with a total amount of EUR 1,544,746.
The rehabilitation of the Kouklia/Kukla reservoir will include a general cleaning with removal of silt, repairs and upgrade of various parts and installation of new elements, such as a bridge and fence around the marshlands, earthen pathway, and installation of new sluice valves/gates. Three islets for birds to take refuge will be established, too.
The overall objectives of the project are to improve water management in the Kouklia/Kukla reservoir area benefiting agriculture producers and to ensure protection of the wetlands by increasing environmental standards for the wildlife.
