Our Focus

Cyprus and UNDP in action

Today's development challenges are complex and each context is different. That's why we tailor our work to fit the development needs of the communities we serve.

UNDP Cyprus' Programme Strategy (2023 - 2027) continues to offer UNDP as a reliable, efficient provider of development services with our central value proposition lying in the areas of confidence and peace building as well as Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) integration.

The Programme Strategy (2023 - 2027) has been designed to be responsive to the island's overarching development challenges. The vision of the programme is of a peaceful and prosperous Cyprus, with its people benefitting from sound island-wide energy, environment and DRR mechanisms with greater social cohesion and common development dialogue among all communities.

The Programme is implemented in partnership with local partners, focusing on both overcoming obstacles and building on opportunities to work towards this vision across three focus areas:

Environment

People of Cyprus benefit from more efficient waster and waste management and increased resilience to natural disasters via strengthened island-wide environmental management.

Energy

People of Cyprus benefit from a more sustainable balance of energy resources with increased energy access for vulnerable groups.

Social Cohesion

Enhanced social cohesion between all groups on the island of Cyprus, and especially between Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.

Gender equality and the empowerment of women are mainstreamed across all areas of our work.
