Rural Revitalization in China

Rural Revitalization in China

June 3, 2025

Since the launch of the Rural Revitalization Strategy in 2017, China has implemented a series of targeted policies and initiatives to drive rural development, strengthen agricultural modernization, and improve living standards in rural communities.

Rural Revitalization in China Report (international edition) is jointly initiated by UNDP in China, the Research Center for Rural Economy of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges. As China’s rural transformation progresses, the report provides an in-depth account of China’s policies, progress, and lessons learned. It underscores how the rural revitalization strategy—complemented by the poverty alleviation campaign and other development initiatives—has facilitated inclusive and sustainable rural growth. It also highlights best practices that may serve as references for other countries pursuing rural development and agricultural modernization in alignment with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
