Country Programme Document for China 2026-2030
February 26, 2026
As China enters a pivotal phase in its development journey and the world moves into the final stretch toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the new Country Programme Document (CPD) (2026–2030) sets out UNDP’s strategic vision for supporting China in advancing a more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable future at speed and scale.
Anchored in China’s national priorities as outlined in its 15th Five-Year Plan, and fully aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF), the CPD is designed to respond to increasingly complex and interconnected challenges, from inequalities and demographic shifts to climate change, biodiversity loss, and the opportunities and risks of rapid technological transformation.
Building on UNDP’s comparative advantage as a trusted policy adviser, innovation partner, and bridge for South-South Cooperation, the new programme focuses on three strategic priorities: addressing new frontiers for sustainable human development, accelerating the low-carbon and nature-positive transition, and strengthening development partnerships to advance the Sustainable Development Goals globally. Across these priorities, innovation, integrated development approaches, and financing will serve as core levers to help translate ambition into measurable progress, both within China and beyond.
Under this guiding blueprint, UNDP enters a new phase of partnership with China to help drive transformative progress in the critical years leading to 2030.
