Results of the Public Call for provision of technical and financial support to SMEs from carbon-intensive industries in decarbonization

The Inclusive Decarbonization Activity (IDA) project, funded by the Government of Japan and implemented by the United Nations Development Program in Bosnia and Herzegovina (UNDP BiH) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, announces the results of the Public Call for provision of technical and financial support to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the implementation of decarbonization investment projects.

The public call was launched on 26 April 2022 for all SMEs from industries with high carbon emissions (power, steel and cement) in BiH. After the deadline for submission of applications expired, evaluation selection committee selected 20 SMEs in accordance with the list of basic, administrative and additional criteria set in this call.

A total of 20 selected SMEs will receive technical support and financial assistance in 2022 in the transition to low-carbon development, through exploiting the potential of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, with the ultimate goal of mitigating or eliminating negative effects of dependence on fossil fuels to their future business and development.

In order to support the concrete implementation of climate plans of BiH, the project will also work to set up a basis for a just transition towards low-carbon economy by creating the Blueprint for BiH’s “Just Transition for all” and Just Transition strategies for three carbon-intensive industries (power, steel and cement), accompanied by capacity-building activities for stakeholders, vulnerable groups and industry.
