Online map of local governance projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina

November 20, 2019

Considering the variety of ongoing donor-supported local governance projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a need emerged for better information sharing on the topic. In response, an online map outlining such projects has been created in 2019 and is currently managed by UNDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The map is a user-friendly interactive tool which informs the wider public about the assistance of the international community in the local governance domain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It currently maps 39 ongoing projects funded by 20 international donors and is regularly updated to include new emerging initiatives. These projects support modernization of local government administration, promote citizens’ participation, help prevent corruption, as well as enhance local infrastructure and public service delivery.

The map provides comprehensive information about the projects - their objectives, activities, duration, as well as geographic coverage. It is a valuable source of information for local governments and policy makers in the field of local governance. The map is also intended for use by representatives of international organizations and donors for enhanced coordination and synergies.

Initiated within the Local Governance / Local Development Donor Coordination Group in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the design of the map has been financed by the Embassy of Switzerland, OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina , UNICEF and UNDP.

The map is available in English and languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina on www.localgovernance.ba and www.localgovernance.ba/ba.
