EU Support to the Confidence Building in the Western Balkans: Second Public Call for CSOs

July 10, 2023

The United Nations Development Programme in Bosnia and Herzegovina is announcing the Second Public Call for Civil Society organizations acting in the area of transitional justice and human rights protection from Bosnia and Herzegovina within the regional project “EU Support to the Confidence Building in the Western Balkans” being implemented by UNDP and financed by the European Union in BiH. The project started on 1 January 2023 and will last four years. The public call aims to support civil society organizations' projects to promote and protect the rights of victims and survivors of the 1990s conflict and their families.

The Project will provide expertise and support to the judicial and law enforcement authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Kosovo[1] (participating jurisdictions) in handling war crimes cases at the domestic level, improve the conditions for regional (cross-jurisdictional/cross-boundary) cooperation in processing these cases, enhance the delivery of support services to victims and witnesses and strengthen the capacity of relevant actors in victim support, which would enhance efficient and effective victim-cantered and human rights-based domestic handling of war crimes.

The overall aim of the interventions is to increase both accountabilities for war crimes in the region and the public support for it, and to enhance dialogue within societies and between ethnic groups about crimes committed during the 1990s, all with the vision of achieving sustainable peace in the region and leaving more resilient societies and stronger social cohesion.

Participation in this Public Call is open, on equal grounds, for all formally registered CSOs and NGOs (associations or foundations), in accordance with the applicable legal regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. All interested civil society organizations can find detailed information on the conditions for applying and the criteria for financing projects at the following link:

The call is open from 7 July to 4 August 2023, and questions related to the public call can be posted via e-mail address registry.ba@undp.org with reference to the Project EU Support to the Confidence Building in the Western Balkans. Responses to the inquiries will be submitted in writing within three working days of receiving the inquiry.
