New Resident Representative of UNDP Bhutan presents credentials to Foreign Minister

Thimphu, 23 November 2022: The new Resident Representative of UNDP Bhutan, Mr. Mohammad Younus presented his credentials to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lyonpo Dr. Tandi Dorji at the Gyalyong Tshokhang today. 

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Younus was the Senior Crisis Country Advisor at UNDP's Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York, USA. He has also served as the Chief/Head of South and West Asia Cluster, based at the UNDP Regional Hub for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand (2017-2021).

Mr. Younus's other assignments include Deputy Chief of South and West Asia Division, New York (2011-2016), Programme Advisor, UNDP Regional Bureau for Arab States (2006 - 2010) and Programme Advisor, UNDP Bureau of Crisis Prevention and Recovery (2001-2006).

Mr. Younus succeeds Ms. Azusa Kubota as the UNDP Bhutan Resident Representative. 

After the presentation of credentials, the UNDP Resident Representative made a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Foreign Minister and discussed various development issues and the partnership between the Royal Government and UNDP.

UNDP has been supporting Bhutan since 1973 and has had a resident presence in the country since 1979.
