GOVERNANCE, INCLUSION AND ENGAGEMENT

 

Advancing good governance, one of the four pillars of Gross National Happiness, has been the focus of UNDP governance programme.

In partnership with the Royal Government, we are working to strengthen inclusive, democratic governance, end gender-based violence, increase civic engagement, support youth-led social innovation and entrepreneurship, and help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We do this through the integrated governance programme which has the following four pillars: Advancing good governance, one of the four pillars of Gross National Happiness, has been the focus of UNDP governance programme. Access to Justice

Our work with the justice sector focuses on strengthening of justice services and institutions, justice sector reform and development and bringing transformational change in justice dispensation through e-Litigation among others.

 

 

Parliamentary Development

With the Parliament, we work to ensure the integration Sustianable Development Goals in the 12th Five Year Plan and enable Parliamentary Committees to continue law-making, oversight and budgetary powers and boost citizen engagement. 

 

Local Governance and Public Sector Innovation

The priority areas include providing actionable evidence and policy advice, strengthening citizen engagement and social accountability and promoting innovation both at the central and local level.

 

 

Gender and Inclusion

Inclusion, gender equality and women’s empowerment are mainstreamed across all of UNDP’s interventions. We focus on women’s economic and political empowerment, gender mainstreaming in climate action, targeted interventions to redress gendered impacts of COVID-19 and integrated, innovative approaches and new forms of collaboration to address gender-based violence.
