SCALA Programme/UNDP

SCALA is a global programme launched in 2021 with the objective of promoting the expansion of sustainable practices in the use of land and agriculture through the use of Nationally Determined Contributions and National Adaptation Plans.

In Argentina, SCALA supports the transition of the country´s agricultural sector by improving the productive models in the farming (corn) and bovine meat markets, fostering innovative, low-on-carbon, sustainable practices such as weather adaptability, augmenting the resilience, effectiveness and the sector´s access to sustainable markets. It is centered in the Pampeana Region.

The initiative was presented on a national level in September of last year during a congress held by CREA (Consorcios Regionales de Experimentación Agrícola in spanish), organization which signed a responsible parties agreement within the framework of SCALA Programme to carry out different activities and work with agricultural producers that are part of the association. Likewise, the UNDP signed a similar agreement with the Asociación Argentina de Productores en Siembra Directa (AAPRESID in spanish) as part of the effort to strengthen its reach.
