SCALA Córdoba Workshop

UNDP Argentina

As part of the Expo Ganadera del Centro, held in the city of Córdoba at the Convention Center on September 30th, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Argentina organized the regional workshop on Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), as part of the activities of the SCALA project. This global initiative, developed together with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), seeks to support the sustainable transition of the agricultural sector.

The workshop was held in a hybrid format and was attended by officials and technicians from government areas related to agriculture and climate change from the provinces of Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, and Santa Fe, as well as from the National Government. In addition, provincial representatives and coordinators of nodes and/or provincial GAP boards participated, along with key sector institutions such as INTA and the academic sector. On behalf of UNDP, participants included Matias Mottet and Nahuel Pugliese from the Environment and Sustainable Development Area, Carla Pascale Medina, SCALA Project Coordinator, Nieves Pascuzzi, GAP specialist consultant, Marcelo Borré, Coordinator of Inclusive Insurance Projects, and SCALA project consultants.

Workshop Objectives

The meeting aimed to:

  • Share provincial experiences in the implementation of GAPs as tools for adaptation and mitigation to climate change.

  • Strengthen collaborative work and scalability through provincial networks and public-private and interprovincial synergies.

  • Advance the design of a regional protocol that incorporates climate-smart techniques within the framework of GAPs.

Recently, UNDP Argentina had the opportunity to participate in the latest CREA Congress, a non-profit civil association led by agricultural entrepreneurs, where it presented this international initiative.

What is SCALA

SCALA is a global program aimed at supporting the transition of the agricultural sector in Argentina by improving production models, promoting environmentally sustainable, innovative, low-carbon models and climate-adapted productive practices, thus increasing the sector’s resilience, efficiency, and access to sustainable markets.

This project has already had the opportunity to be presented at the latest CREA Congress, a non-profit civil association led by agricultural entrepreneurs.
