Building on years of successful UNDP support to local entrepreneurs, GYB is redefining possibilities for businesses. This time, 12 businesses in Lushnja stand to benefit.

With a focus on personalized assistance, sustainable practices, and market expansion, this innovative methodology empowers businesses to thrive in a competitive environment.

A Proven Formula for Success

"Growing with Your Business" is more than a programme, it’s a game-changer. Developed as part of the “Business Partnerships and Solutions for Sustainable Development Goals” project—funded by the Government of Sweden and implemented by UNDP in partnership with FAO, ILO, and UNIDO—it stands out for its dynamic approach.

This initiative uses a six-month cycle to deliver tailored guidance, training, and resources to help businesses succeed. At its core, GYB focuses on helping businesses achieve four key goals:

1. Quick Wins: Immediate, low-cost improvements with significant impact.
2. Market Growth: Boosting sales while reducing operational costs.
3. Competitiveness: Enhancing product quality and value.
4. Sustainability: Incorporating eco-friendly practices into daily operations.

What sets GYB apart is its ability to meet businesses where they are. Whether it’s a pickle producer streamlining production or a winery eager to expand its reach, the methodology adapts to diverse needs and challenges.

How Businesses Benefit

Each of the 12 participating businesses embarks on a transformative journey with the guidance of a dedicated consultant, who provides weekly, personalized technical assistance. These experts delve into each business's specific challenges and opportunities, ensuring the support is practical and results oriented. In addition to one-on-one consultations, the programme offers targeted training sessions to bridge critical gaps and unlock new growth opportunities. Infrastructure grants further enable businesses to invest in equipment or upgrades, improving efficiency and boosting commercial appeal.

The programme also equips businesses with strategies to strengthen relationships with customers and suppliers, enhancing their competitiveness in the market. This comprehensive support enables businesses not just to grow but to thrive sustainably, creating a solid foundation for long-term success.

The impact of "Growing with Your Business" goes far beyond individual companies. By supporting micro and small businesses in the agro-processing sector, the initiative strengthens value chains, fosters innovation, and builds a more inclusive economy.

“Take, for example, the olive oil producers in Lushnja. With GYB’s guidance, these businesses can refine their production processes, meet EU standards, and access new markets. This ripple effect benefits local farmers, suppliers, and communities, creating jobs and boosting economic resilience,” says Dorian Kamberi, national business consultant team lead at GYB project.

Similarly, the programme supports essential oil producers and dairy farmers, vegetable and fruit processors  helping them integrate sustainable practices and align with international benchmarks. The result? A competitive edge in both domestic and global markets.
