UNDP Albania Partnership with the European Union

May 7, 2026

UNDP Albania works at the forefront of sustainable development, partnering with national institutions, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to address the country’s most complex and interconnected challenges.

From strengthening public services and democratic governance to advancing inclusive economic growth, youth employment, and nature protection, UNDP’s portfolio is aligned with Albania’s EU integration path and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Among its closest and most strategic allies, the European Union stands out as UNDP Albania’s key partner. Their collaboration is anchored in a shared vision: to accelerate Albania’s transformation into a modern, equitable, and resilient country within the European family.

Through multi-year programmes and targeted funding, the EU supports UNDP in implementing interventions that empower citizens, promote inclusion, and drive systemic reform across sectors.

By 2025, Albania has opened all the clusters of EU accession negotiations—an achievement made possible through enduring reforms and the unwavering support from international development partners.

Backed by the EU’s €927 million Growth Plan for the Western Balkans and a national GDP growth rate of 4.1% in Q2, Albania is poised to deepen reforms and unlock new opportunities for its people.
