Tirana, February 1, 2024: Today, Asim Vokshi High School in Tirana was inaugurated, opening its doors to pupils and teachers. The school, impacted by the 2019 earthquake, has undergone thorough repairs and renovations, unveiling a contemporary educational facility. The new school features an IT lab, a chemistry lab, a library, a multifunctional room, psychological and medical facilities, and an indoor gym. The main school building is equipped with an elevator and ramps, ensuring accessibility for people with disabilities.

750 pupils and 62 teachers are direct beneficiaries of this EU investment, totaling ALL 162,000,000. The repair of the school is guided by two key principles: #BuildBackBetter, aiming at rebuilding stronger, safer, and more disaster-resilient infrastructure and systems; and #BuildBackTogether, engaging children, pupils’ local governments, local public institutions, and communities in public consultations to have a say on the design and reconstruction process. Tirana municipality is one of 11 partner municipalities of the Programme, where 7 education facilities are under repair/reconstruction. 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastirliu, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, the Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP in Albania, Francisco Roquette, and pupils.

“Today we’ve inaugurated the “Asim Vokshi” High School in Tirana, providing its students and teachers with a modern learning environment. EU4Schools, is one of the EU programmes I’m most proud of. It was born as a sign of our solidarity with the people of Albania, hit by a tragic earthquake, but it quickly became much more than just improving infrastructure. EU4Schools has provided schools with sport facilities, rooms for psychosocial assistance, ensuring health, safety and accessibility for all students, while promoting energy efficiency and offering a proper environment for learning. It’s such a satisfaction now to see young Albanians thriving in these modern and safe facilities,” said Ambassador Silvio Gonzato.

"Asim Vokshi" School is part of the EU4Schools Programme, funded by the European Union with €75 million. 63 education facilities in the 11 earthquake-affected municipalities are being reconstructed or repaired in the context of the Programme, which is implemented by UNDP.

This year UNDP marks 20 years of partnership with EU - all based on shared values enshrined in the UN charter We express our profound gratitude to the European Union for their steadfast support and investment in education, recognizing it as the cornerstone of a better future for generations to come,” declared the UNDP representative Francisco Roquette.

To date, 52 education facilities have been completed and handed over to the beneficiaries. To increase transparency and accountability, an online transparency portal has been established (http://eu4schoolsportal.al/), serving as the gateway for transparency and communication with direct beneficiaries and the public.

All education facilities under the EU4Schools programme adhere to the highest standards of construction, utilizing eco-friendly materials and conforming to Eurocode 8.

Accessibility for persons with disabilities is ensured across all facilities, which now also feature new sports courts, dedicated infirmaries, psychologist rooms, and fire escape stairs.

“BE për Shkollat”: Përurimi i shkollës së mesme “Asim Vokshi” në Tiranë

Tiranë, 1 shkurt 2024: Sot u përurua shkolla e mesme “Asim Vokshi” në Tiranë, e cila hapi dyert për nxënësit dhe mësuesit. Shkolla, e goditur nga tërmeti i vitit 2019, i është nënshtruar riparimeve dhe rinovimeve tërësore, duke zbuluar një objekt arsimor bashkëkohor. Shkolla e re përmban një laborator TI, një laborator kimie, një bibliotekë, një sallë multifunksionale, mjedise për ndihmë psikologjike dhe mjekësore, si dhe një palestër të mbyllur. Godina kryesore e shkollës është e pajisur me ashensor dhe rampa, duke siguruar qasje për personat me aftësi të kufizuara.

750 nxënës dhe 62 mësues janë përfitues të drejtpërdrejtë të këtij investimi të BE-së, me një total prej 162,000.000 Lekësh. Riparimi i shkollës udhëhiqet nga dy parime kryesore: #Rindërtojmë më mirë, që synon rindërtimin e infrastrukturës dhe sistemeve më të forta, më të sigurta dhe më të qëndrueshme ndaj katastrofave; dhe #Rindërtojmë se bashku, që angazhon fëmijët, qeveritë vendore të nxënësve, institucionet publike vendore dhe komunitetet në konsultime publike për të thënë fjalën e tyre në procesin e projektimit dhe rindërtimit. Bashkia e Tiranës është një nga 11 bashkitë partnere të programit, ku 7 objekte arsimore janë në riparim/rikonstruksion.

Në ceremoninë e përurimit morën pjesë ambasadori i Delegacionit të Bashkimit Evropian në Tiranë Silvio Gonzato, ministrja e Arsimit dhe Sportit Ogerta Manastirliu, kryetari i Bashkisë së Tiranës Erion Veliaj, zëvendës përfaqësuesi i përhershëm i UNDP-së në Shqipëri Francisco Roquette dhe nxënësit.

“Sot kemi përuruar shkollën e mesme “Asim Vokshi” në Tiranë, duke u ofruar nxënësve dhe mësuesve të saj një mjedis mësimor modern. “BE për shkollat”, është një nga programet e BE-së për të cilin jam më shumë krenar. Ai lindi si shenjë e solidaritetit tonë me popullin shqiptar të goditur nga tërmeti tragjik, por shpejt u bë shumë më tepër sesa thjesht përmirësimi i infrastrukturës. “BE për shkollat” u ka ofruar shkollave ambiente sportive dhe salla për ndihmë psikosociale, duke garantuar shëndet, siguri dhe qasje për të gjithë nxënësit, si dhe duke promovuar efikasitetin e energjisë dhe duke ofruar një mjedis të përshtatshëm për të mësuar. Është kënaqësi e madhe të shohësh tani të rinj shqiptarë që lulëzojnë në këto mjedise moderne dhe të sigurta”, tha ambasadori Silvio Gonzato.

Shkolla “Asim Vokshi” është pjesë e Programit “BE për shkollat”, i financuar nga Bashkimi Evropian me 75 milionë Euro. 63 objekte arsimore në 11 bashkitë e prekura nga tërmeti po rindërtohen dhe riparohen në kuadër të programit, i cili zbatohet nga UNDP-ja.

“Ndikimi i programit “BE për Shkollat” shkon përtej thjesht rindërtimit apo rehabilitimit të infrastrukturës. Ai mbështet kauzën e arsimit cilësor sipas Objektivit të Zhvillimit të Qëndrueshëm 4. Këtë vit UNDP-ja shënon 20 vjet partneritet me BE-në: vite të bazuara në vlerat e përbashkëta të mishëruara në Kartën e OKB-së. Ne i shprehim mirënjohjen tonë të thellë Bashkimit Evropian për mbështetjen e qëndrueshme dhe investimin në arsim, duke e njohur atë si gurin e themelit për një të ardhme më të mirë për brezat që do të vijnë”, deklaroi përfaqësuesi i UNDP-së Francisco Roquette.

Deri më sot janë përfunduar dhe u janë dorëzuar përfituesve 52 objekte arsimore. Për të rritur transparencën dhe llogaridhënien, është krijuar një portal transparence online (http://eu4schoolsportal.al/), i cili shërben si portë për transparencën dhe komunikimin me përfituesit e drejtpërdrejtë dhe publikun.

Të gjitha objektet arsimore në kuadër të programit “BE për shkollat” respektojnë standardet më të larta të ndërtimit, duke përdorur materiale miqësore me mjedisin dhe në përputhje me EuroKodin 8.

Qasja për personat me aftësi të kufizuara sigurohet në të gjitha mjediset, të cilat tani kanë edhe fusha të reja sportive, infermieri të dedikuara, dhoma psikologësh dhe shkallë për shpëtimin nga zjarri.
