JAPAN FUNDED PROJECTS

2026

The Government of Japan, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa, continues to advance transformative initiatives that address Africa’s evolving development priorities while contributing directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This page provides a comprehensive overview of Japan-funded projects between 2026 to 2027, highlighting efforts across democratic governance, peacebuilding, the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, climate resilience, sustainable agriculture, and capacity development. A strong cross-cutting emphasis on women, youth, innovation, and partnerships reflects Japan’s continued commitment to fostering inclusive, resilient, and locally driven development across the continent.

Building on the momentum of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), these initiatives strengthen Japan–Africa cooperation through innovative solutions, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic growth, human security, peace, and resilience.
