TICAD Japan Supplementary Budget IMPACT REPORT
May 12, 2026
The TICAD Japan Supplementary Budget (JSB) enabled UNDP and its partners to deliver a high-impact portfolio spanning more than 30 projects across 30+ countries, translating Japan's human security philosophy into practical, scalable development solutions across Africa. This report documents how the JSB strengthened Japan–Africa cooperation through private sector co-creation, peacebuilding, innovation ecosystems, and inclusive human development — reaching over 4.3 million people through healthcare, supporting 350,000+ direct beneficiaries in agriculture, elections, and IDP support, and facilitating 133,370+ citizen contacts through voter registration drives.
Beyond documenting results, the report makes the strategic case for scaling Japan–Africa cooperation ahead of TICAD10. It highlights how catalytic financing, private sector co-creation, inclusive innovation ecosystems — including the timbuktoo Tech Hubs and UniPods networks — and investments in women's leadership and youth empowerment are laying the foundations for long-term resilience and inclusive economic growth across Africa.
