SCRALA Site
With funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Zambia is supporting the Ministry of Agriculture in implementing the Strengthening Climate Resilience of Agricultural Livelihoods in Agro-Ecological Regions I and II in Zambia (SCRALA) Project. The aim of the project is to enhance the resilience of smallholder farmers in Agro-Ecological Regions I and II in response to climate change and climate variability.
In accordance with UNDP’s Social and Environmental Standards (SES), the project was screened and classified as a Moderate Risk initiative. Consequently, the Project Management Unit has prepared Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) for the Bulking Centres to be constructed across the 16 districts: Chongwe, Rufunsa, Luangwa, Nyimba, Mambwe, Chama, Mafinga, Siavonga, Chirundu, Gwembe, Namwala, Kazungula, Mulobezi, Sesheke, Sioma, and Senanga.
The ESMP outline measures to ensure the environmental and social sustainability of the proposed interventions.
Call for Comments UNDP Zambia invites all interested stakeholders to review and submit comments on the ESMP. Feedback received will be considered in final document and guide the construction of the Bulking centres.
