Empowering Women in Peace Operations

April 25, 2025

Zambia has been an active and dedicated contributor to peacekeeping efforts, however several impediments affect women’s participation in these processes. Empirical evidence suggests that these impediments include basic oral and report writing skills, complex fire arms and motor vehicle handling skills, as well as broader cultural and structural barriers.

This project complements the Government’s heightened efforts to increase women’s participation in all sectors including the Zambia Police Service. UNDP Zambia’s contribution with support from the  Bilateral Support-Canada and The Elsie Initiative Fund will therefore deliver the following outputs: (i) Procurement of gender-sensitive equipment to support the training of female police officers.
