Supporting the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities caused by the war

Key activities

Support to the Government of Ukraine to develop and implement policies intended to uphold the rights of persons with disabilities, with a focus on rehabilitation

  • Expert support for the assessment of existing and development of new policies and procedures; and the amendment of legislation in the fields of rehabilitation, including social rehabilitation and social services related to rehabilitation.
  • Support for conducting information campaign to raise public awareness of rehabilitation services.

Enhancing the capacities of local stakeholders in the field of rehabilitation

  • Development and piloting of models for the rehabilitation and adaptation of persons with disabilities caused by the war, in particular:
  • a model for the work of multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams in the community,
  • a model for the rehabilitation and adaptation in the community of persons with vision loss, and
  • models for social services related to rehabilitation (such as social rehabilitation and social services in the health sector).
  • Procurement, purchase and providing equipment for rehabilitation-related institutions, such as medical institutions, rehabilitation and assistive technologies centres, and social service providers.
  • Development of rehabilitation staff capacity.

Creating conditions for the socio-economic integration of persons with disabilities

  • Provision of advisory support to businesses to create an accessible and inclusive work environment for persons with disabilities.
  • Support for initiatives to improve the employability of persons with disabilities.
  • Ensuring job placement and onboarding of persons with disabilities in workplaces through providing social support services by NGOs with grant support.
  • Support for skills development and re-training of persons with disabilities by enhancing the vocational education training system’s capacity to ensure the educational process’s inclusiveness.
