KYIV, 19 December 2023 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with Kyiv Mohyla Business School, is excited to unveil "Strengthening Business Membership Organisations." This pioneering manual, authored by experts from Kyiv Mohyla Business School with financial support from Switzerland, is a first-of-its-kind resource, offering an exhaustive compilation of knowledge and best practices for establishing, managing, and advancing Business Membership Organizations (BMOs) in Ukraine.

BMOs play a vital role in the Ukrainian economy by supporting the growth and development of businesses. They play a crucial role in supporting and representing the interests of businesses of all sizes, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

"Strengthening Business Membership Organisations" is a groundbreaking resource, blending global best practices with invaluable Ukrainian experiences. It serves as a comprehensive guide, equipping BMO leaders with practical strategies to navigate the complex dynamics of their industry. The manual addresses common challenges and provides a supportive framework for the growth and development of these organizations.

Andreas Huber, Head of Cooperation at the Embassy of Switzerland in Ukraine, s emphasized the practical importance of the manual.  “It is a blueprint for fostering a robust and vibrant business ecosystem,” he said. “By enhancing the capabilities of BMOs, we are directly contributing to the economic resilience and growth of Ukraine, which is a key focus of Switzerland's collaboration in the region."

UNDP Resident Representative Jaco Cilliers said the manual's primary focus is on the vital aspects of BMO development. “The guide assists BMOs in engaging effectively with their members and progressing to offer Business Development Services, filling critical service gaps and bolstering financial stability,” he said. “Additionally, it offers insights for BMO leaders on effectively representing their members and advocating at the governmental level. We aim to empower Business Membership Organizations in Ukraine, enabling them to flourish and contribute significantly to the nation's economic development."
