Mykolaiv, Ukraine, 19 October 2023 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with financial support from the Government of Germany, handed over five specially equipped vehicles to regional employment centres in Ukraine. The mobile centres will significantly speed up searching for jobs and filling vacancies, and raise awareness of how to establish businesses or study in Ukraine’s educational institutions. The mobile employment centres are designed to improve the overall employment level, as Ukraine's unemployment rate is currently about 20 percent.

The vehicles were delivered to Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv and Kherson oblasts. Each car is equipped with everything needed for the full operation of mobile offices, particularly a tent, collapsible furniture, a Starlink, a generator, a laptop, a tablet, a mobile phone and a heater. Thanks to the mobile centres, people from remote communities will be able to join state programmes, including "Recovery Army", "eRobota: Own business", and "Voucher for education".

Martin Jäger, the German Ambassador to Ukraine, said the mobile centres are critically important in making public services more accessibleto the people who live far from urban areas. “These mobile employment centres are helping people with employment challenges and ensuring social protection reaches those who need it most," he said.

Christophoros Politis, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative, said that the delivery of five mobile employment centres aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and coverage of public services in remote areas is another achievement made possible with the support of the Government of Germany. He emphasized, “We strongly believe that investing in the mobility of employment centres is crucial during these challenging times and will assist the Government of Ukraine in improving access to services for Ukrainians, ultimately contributing to a more inclusive and effective recovery process.”

The mobile employment centres were purchased with the assistance of UNDP in Ukraine under the framework of the Recovery and Peacebuilding Programme, with financial support from the Government of Germany.
