Ashgabat, 4 April 2023: Within the framework of a joint project implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan “Capacity Building of the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan”, a training aimed at building the capacity of specialists representing the education system of Turkmenistan and introducing new technology in the learning environment is being held via video conferencing.

The event, which is conducted by Mr. Mourat Tchoshanov, the UNDP International expert, gathered representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Academy of Civil Service under the President of Turkmenistan. For three days, participants will be testing the Teachers’ Manual "Basics of Distance Learning", developed by the UNDP expert in the framework of the above-mentioned project for its further integration in education of Turkmenistan. The training will help participants understand and embrace the concept of distance learning, provide an excursion into the history of distance learning, present the principles, advantages and challenges of this type of education method, which provides greater flexibility and location independence for students and teachers, promotes active interaction, activates independent work by students and helps to meet students’ self-educational needs.

“We hope that this important training will contribute to the development of the digital education system in Turkmenistan, based on world best practices and trends in the global learning environment,” – noted Mr. Akmyrat Danatarov, UNDP in Turkmenistan Programme Analyst for Governance, Economic Diversification, and Inclusive Growth.
