Turkmen environmental control specialists familiarized with new air quality monitoring equipment

UNDP Turkmenistan

Within framework of the joint project of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan “Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza”, a training session on working with new equipment was organized for the laboratory specialists of the Environmental Control Service and the Velayat Divisions of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection (MAEP).

The purpose of the training was to train participants on a new technology (dust analyzer of the ATMAS type) with practical exercises based on the SEC air pollution control laboratory.

The participants of the training learnt how to use the new device - the ATMAS air analyzer, studying its functionality in detail. During the training, laboratory specialists directly involved in the selection and chemical analysis of air samples for solid (suspended) particles were given the opportunity to test the new device in action and measure dust concentrations with different particle sizes. The issues of standardization of the device in the country were also discussed at the training.

At the end of the training, all representatives from the velayats received examined devices from the UNDP project.
