Experience sharing meetings between municipalities ended up with a workshop in Ankara

As the closing event of the experience sharing meetings between municipalities which were held every week during the March-June 2021 period within the scope of the Local Administration Reform Phase III Project of UNDP Turkey, the Workshop on Enabling Experience Sharing Between Municipalities and Award Ceremony was held in Ankara.

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Ministry of Interior, as well as the representatives from metropolitan and metropolitan district municipalities who made presentations in these meetings so far attended the event.

The meeting, which was held outdoors with pandemic measures and also broadcast live online, started with the opening speeches by UNDP Inclusive and Democratic Governance Portfolio Manager, Ms. Burcu Miraç Dıraor Aydın and the Deputy Director General of Local Authorities of the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Mr. Emrullah Töremen.

Then, an analysis and evaluation study related to 19 experience sharing meetings, in which nearly 70 examples of good practices, from participation to smart city practices, from environmental management to various issues in agriculture were presented with the participation of more than 2000 people, was shared by the experts involved in the project.

Within the scope of the event, representatives of the Union of Municipalities of Turkey and the Marmara Municipalities Union also made presentations on the projects they carried out within the scope of the experience sharing studies.

Finally, in the presentation made by İNGEV, a general assessment of the results of the human development index was shared and the importance of local policies was mentioned in this context. The representatives of the municipalities who took the floor during the meeting expressed their opinions on the fact that the experience sharing meetings are extremely beneficial and that their continuity and sustainability need to be ensured.

The event ended with the presentation of commemorative plaques to the municipality representatives who contributed to the experience sharing meetings.
