Mr. Şükrü Ünlütürk has been elected as the President of the Executive Board of Business for Goals Platform that works to build a bridge between the business world and the Sustainable Development Goals. Taking over the banner from Ms. Ümit Boyner as the President of the Executive Board, Mr. Ünlütürk will lead the Platform’s efforts to promote the role of private sector in sustainable development.

Founded in 2019 by a joint initiative of TURKONFED, TUSIAD and UNDP, the Business for Goals Platform acts as a common action platform in “Climate Change and Disaster Preparedness”, “Preparing Enterprises for Future” and “Inclusive Growth”. The Platform aims to strengthen the transformation of the business world in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, and bring together multiple stakeholders to guide the policies of both private and public sector for a sustainable development path.

Mr. Şükrü Ünlütürk, short biography

Born in 1956 in Eğridir town of Isparta, Turkey, Mr. Ünlütürk graduated from the Department of Mining Engineering of the Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1979. He started his work life as a Labour Inspector in the Ministry of Labour, then worked in various private enterprises in the textiles and garment industry. In 1987, he founded Sun Tekstil A.Ş., and currently is the President of Board of Directors of Ekoten A.Ş., a part of the Sun Group. Active in many civil society organizations, Mr. Ünlütürk serves as a member of TURKONFED and KALDER Advisory Boards, and chair of Advisory Board of EGIAD, in addition to his recent role as the President of the Executive Board of Business for Goals Platform.
