The Artificial Intelligence Forum for Small Island Digital States (AI for SIDS 2.0) was a four-part virtual series held from February to June 2025. It aimed to empower Caribbean Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to explore the use of AI for public sector innovation and sustainable development. The initiative was led by the UNDP in partnership with regional and international organizations, drawing over 1,200 registrants from more than 20 countries.
Each session built on the last, covering topics from basic AI concepts to advanced applications in governance. Discussions focused on ethical implementation, regional cooperation, and the importance of building local capacity. Key themes included trust, inclusive policymaking, AI literacy, and the need for solutions tailored to the Caribbean context. The idea of a regional AI lab network also emerged as a promising direction.
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees appreciated the relevance of the content, the expertise of the speakers, and the practical insights shared. Many expressed interests in continued learning through workshops, localized toolkits, and collaborative platforms. The forum laid a strong foundation for future innovation and digital transformation across the region
