Yesterday, 19 September, His Excellency Minister of State Administration Mr. Tomas Cabral and UNDP Resident Representative ai Ms. Caitlin Wiesen signed an agreement in the amount of 1 million US dollars to cost-share the development of the Balkaun Uniku network in select municipalities and to establish the National Center for Administrative Modernization. This commitment to advance administrative reforms and enhance citizen-centric governance aims to drive significant sustainable progress in delivering public services to citizens.
The Balkaun Uniku Network intends to revolutionize access to essential administrative services by breaching geographical barriers and ensuring decentralized access and convenience for all citizens. By leveraging technology and digital solutions, the Balkaun Uniku will facilitate seamless interactions and simplify procedures, empowering individuals to effectively access the public services they need.
Furthermore, the establishment of the Center for Administrative Modernization will play a pivotal role in spearheading institutional reforms and knowledge sharing. It will serve as a hub for research, training, and innovation, offering valuable insights to enhance administrative efficiency and effectiveness at all levels.
UNDP and MSA are confident that this partnership will foster positive transformation, augmenting public sector capacities for the benefit of citizens and society as a whole. This turn is foundational to achieving our shared goals of accelerating sustainable development that delivers for the people of Timor-Leste.
