ANALYSIS AND MAPPING THE DEMAND FOR SPECIALISTS IN PILOT SECTORS

In 2022 UNDP commissioned the analysis and mapping of needs of important economic sectors for specialists and professional competencies. Based on the existing research, policy documents and economic forecasts, the sectors of mining, food production, chemical, light industry, mechanical engineering, metallurgy, banking sector and IT industry have been selected as pilot sectors. As a result, the study assessed the current and future needs for specialists, and determined professional competencies demanded by the modern labor market of Tajikistan. Grounded on the conducted analysis, the study make recommendations for young people to enhance their knowledge and skills to meet the demand of employers in important economic sectors. The report also provides recommendations to the educational institutions to improve current education curriculum and to prepare specialists demanded by the important sectors of economy of Tajikistan.
