May 15, 2023
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Green Light Project Inc. (d.b.a. Counter Extremism Project), organized a 2-day training session for local psychologists and social workers engaged in rehabilitation of returned citizens from conflict zones on importance and inculcation of trauma-informed care in rehabilitation efforts on 11-12 May, 2023.
Throughout the training, participants had the opportunity to broaden their understanding of the extensive impact that trauma and violent extremism have on both individuals and communities. They gained valuable insights into the urgent need for trauma-informed care as an essential component of effective rehabilitation. The session went beyond theoretical discussions, emphasizing practical exercises that equipped attendees with the skills to develop intervention plans. By seamlessly integrating trauma care into community programming, these plans will allow to effectively mitigate the risk of re-traumatization while synergistically supporting the efforts of mental health practitioners.
Leveraging the comprehensive UNDP's PVE Toolkit, the training offered valuable insights and strategies to enhance the national efforts in preventing violent extremism in Tajikistan. #Global Framework #EU
