United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on 27 February 2022, installed three “Creative Corners” in Shahrinav district, Isfara, and Khorog cities, equipped with digital technologies to empower the youth digitally.

The “Creative Corners” will help the young people from Shahrinav district, Isfara, and Khorog to increase their computer literacy and learn new skills like web design, Microsoft office, etc., for future employment opportunities. This will also allow them to think creatively and use the power of imagination. As a result, it will reduce the risk of radicalization and promote social cohesion. The “Creative Corners” are free to use so that no one is left behind. The goal of this platform is to prepare today’s youth for tomorrow’s world.

Jointly with UNICEF and UN WOMEN and in coordination with the UN Resident Coordination Office, UNDP is closely working with the Committee on Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of Tajikistan to implement the “Empowering Youth for a Peaceful Tajikistan” project for two years.

The objective of the project is to engage the youth in different socio-economic opportunities and build their capacities so that they are not engrossed in radicalization or violent extremism. This is how the project is helping the government in preventing violent extremism through creativity and innovation and creating economic opportunities for youth.
