On 4-6 November 2025, a team of electoral experts conducted a successful mission to Suriname to discuss potential areas for cooperation and support. The visit included a range of meetings with the stakeholders involved in the planning and organization of elections. The conversations focused on gaining a better understanding of the existing capacity development needs, areas for institutional and legislative strengthening, voter awareness, and other topics.

This collaboration builds on the decades of cooperation between UNDP and the Ministry of Home Affairs in electoral support. Minister Bee, while thanking UNDP for this initiative, emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening of the electoral process in Suriname and recognized the value of international partnerships, technical expertise and knowledge sharing with the national elections management bodies.

UNDP reiterated its commitment to advancing effective and inclusive governance, rule of law, and institutional strengthening, working in partnership with the Government of Suriname and other important actors and stakeholders.
