The Ministry of Regional Development has started a radio programme on Localizing SDGs, which is broadcast every Monday at 07:30AM and 18:30PM by Radio Boskopu, on 93.5 FM. The programme is produced and hosted by two staff members of the Information Department of the Ministry, and the Working Group on Localizing SDGs. They also participated in the Train the Trainer sessions earlier this year. Radio Boskopu is a local radio station managed by the Ministry of Regional Development.
The radio programme supports the ministry’s efforts to create public awareness of the activities taking place in relation to Localizing SDGs. For better coverage and to reach a larger audience, the programme is broadcast in Sranan Tongo, Suriname’s lingua franca, spoken and understood by Surinamese from all walks of life.
To highlight what’s going on with the SDGs, key player(s) are interviewed during the programme, such as members of the ministry staff, representatives of the local authorities, and community members. We learn about their views of and experiences with SDGs and development in general.
