This training is a direct outcome of the needs identified by the Pamaka community during the community consultations conducted by the EMSAGS Project in 2025. These consultations highlighted a strong demand for increased knowledge and practical skills in sustainable agriculture, enabling community members to improve food production while creating new economic opportunities.

As part of the Agricultural Guidance & Capacity Building Program (March–September 2026), the EMSAGS Project organized the Agricultural Guidance & Capacity Building training on June 6 and 20, 2026. The training was held at the Mining Training and Extension Center (MTEC) in Snesi Kondre and was facilitated by agricultural expert Sastrokromo Soemiran. The training program is implemented in collaboration with and co-supported by Newmont Suriname, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening sustainable livelihoods and entrepreneurship within the Pamaka community.

The program aims to increase agricultural productivity, promote sustainable farming practices, and strengthen food security and income-generating opportunities for the Pamaka community.

A total of 16 participants attended the training, including 11 women and 5 men. Through a combination of theoretical instruction and hands-on practical sessions, participants gained knowledge in soil management, crop selection, irrigation, plant propagation, compost production, and sustainable farming techniques. The practical component was conducted at Marius Forster's farm in Snesi Kondre, where participants were able to immediately apply the techniques they had learned.

"These trainings give us the opportunity to learn more about agriculture and plant propagation." – Ms. Jeanette Kamil, participant.

Through this initiative, the EMSAGS Project is investing not only in knowledge and skills, but also in sustainable agriculture, local entrepreneurship, and future-proof food security. By working together with the community to develop practical solutions, the project contributes to the sustainable socio-economic development of the Pamaka region.
