Empowering Entrepreneurs in Pamaka Through Digital Skills Training at MTEC Snesi Kondre
June 16, 2026
From May 23 to 30, 2026, the EMSAGS Project, in collaboration with Newmont Suriname, organized a three-day training entitled "Social Media Marketing & Branding for Entrepreneurs" for entrepreneurs from the Paamaka community. The training was delivered by Premium Guidance Consulting and took place at the Mining Training and Extension Center (MTEC) in Snesi Kondre.
A total of 14 entrepreneurs participated in the programme. Throughout the three training days, participants learned how to effectively use social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp Business to promote their products and services, reach customers, and strengthen their businesses. Participants were also introduced to Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that can support content creation, marketing, and business development.
This training is a direct outcome of the gender assessment and community consultations conducted by EMSAGS in the Pamaka area in 2025. During these consultations, community members identified the need for practical training opportunities in entrepreneurship, income diversification, and digital skills development to improve their economic opportunities. EMSAGS is committed to translating these community-identified needs into concrete capacity-building and development initiatives.
The training combined interactive presentations, practical exercises, and live demonstrations, allowing participants to work directly with their own smartphones and business profiles. This hands-on approach enabled participants to immediately apply newly acquired skills to their own businesses.
The delivery of this training through the MTEC Snesi Kondre also demonstrates the intended use of the facility as a sustainable hub for knowledge sharing, capacity development, and personal growth in Suriname’s interior. By bringing training opportunities closer to communities, residents gain improved access to knowledge, skills, and new economic opportunities.
Through this activity, EMSAGS continues to demonstrate how research findings and community feedback can be translated into tangible actions that contribute to sustainable development, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience in Suriname's interior regions.
