Description
i. Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment
UNDP's work towards achieving gender equality in South Sudan focuses on advancing gender equality, empowering women and promoting their active participation in governance, economic development, and peacebuilding. Key initiatives include strengthening internal and external gender mainstreaming mechanisms, supporting gender-responsive policies, enhancing women's access to education and economic opportunities, increasing women's political participation, and addressing gender-based violence. UNDP also engages communities to challenge gender norms and invests in data collection to inform policies. By fostering an inclusive environment that promotes women's rights, UNDP aims to contribute to sustainable development and lasting peace in South Sudan.
