Belgrade, 29 April 2025 - With the financial support of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic and within the project "Geothermal energy in Serbia", through the initiatives "Public and private financing for development" and "EU for the Green Agenda in Serbia", and in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Serbia, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announces the Public Call for Expressions of Interest for obtaining technical support in developing studies for introducing geothermal energy into energy mix by public institutions. 

The Call for applications for expression of interest is intended for public institutions (e.g. heating companies, health, educational, sport facilities, social or others) that plan to introduce geothermal energy into their energy mix, in areas with proven geothermal potential.  

Public institutions have the opportunity to apply for receiving technical support, which includes the development of: 

• Feasibility Study for the use of geothermal energy in heating/cooling,

• Study on geothermal potential, including, if applicable, some exploration works, and/or other preparatory activities, and/or

• Cost-benefit study demonstrating benefits from the introduction of geothermal energy into the energy mix. 

When expressing interest for the support under this Call, applicants are expected to demonstrate high potential to develop bankable geothermal projects. 

The application must be submitted no later than June 30, 2025, by 5 p.m, via the online platform available HERE. 

In addition to filling out the online application form, it is necessary to submit a statement signed by the authorised person confirming participation in the public call, to the email address: zelena.agenda.rs@undp.org.
