Across Samoa, the Cook Islands, Niue and Tokelau, communities are creating new opportunities for a more resilient and inclusive future. The latest edition of Island Voices showcases how governments, communities, civil society organisations, youth, women and development partners are working together to address some of the Pacific’s most pressing challenges.

From remote villages in Samoa where solar lighting continued to shine during power outages, to community-led environmental initiatives protecting biodiversity, local solutions are helping strengthen resilience while improving everyday lives. At the same time, young people are stepping forward as leaders, driving innovation, participating in governance processes, and contributing to climate action and sustainable development.

The newsletter also highlights progress in strengthening governance, advancing digital transformation, promoting inclusive decision-making, supporting climate transparency, and building stronger partnerships across the region. In Tokelau, efforts are underway to enhance governance and climate resilience, while in Niue and the Cook Islands initiatives are helping communities adapt to climate change, improve conservation outcomes and embrace new technologies.

Together, these stories reflect UNDP’s commitment to supporting Pacific communities as they navigate uncertainty, embrace innovation, and build a future that is resilient, sustainable and leaves no one behind.
