UNDP Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025 | 2024 Annual Report

November 10, 2025

This report presents the third year of implementation of the UNDP 2022–2025 Gender Equality Strategy, highlighting progress made in 2024 despite global challenges such as climate disruption, conflict, and economic volatility. Through country and regional examples, the report showcases how UNDP accelerated gender equality by expanding access to essential services, financial inclusion, leadership opportunities, and clean energy for millions of women. In 2024, nearly 300 million women benefited from UNDP-supported initiatives, including 140 million supported to vote and lead, and 137 million accessing essential services.

UNDP’s work spanned six signature solutions—poverty and inequality, governance, resilience, environment, energy, and gender equality—demonstrating integrated approaches to structural transformation. Key accomplishments include reforms in fiscal and tax systems, strengthened care and social protection, increased women’s leadership in peacebuilding and crisis recovery, and enhanced institutional transformation within UNDP itself.

The report emphasizes that investments in women drive broader progress, benefiting entire communities and economies. However, it also notes that achieving gender equality by 2030 remains a challenge, requiring continued commitment, partnerships, and systemic solutions. As UNDP transitions to its new Strategic Plan 2026–2029, it draws on lessons learned and significant progress made, reaffirming that centering structural changes for gender equality is essential for sustainable development and transformation.
