Spain and UNDP Sign Partnership Framework to advance the 2030 Agenda

22 September 2019 – Leaders of Spain and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) signed an accord today pledging stronger collaboration to advance Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This agreement, signed by UNDP Administrator Achim Steiner and Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation Josep Borrell Fontes, focuses on improving alignment among Nationally Determined Contributions to the Paris Agreement; advancing thought leadership on multidimensional poverty; and working with local and regional governments to accelerate local SDG implementation.

In pursuit of reforming the United Nations Development Sytem, UNDP and Spain are firmly commited to the Funding Compact where Spain’s commitment to increased, more predictable, and flexible resources is met with UNDP’s capacity to strengthen efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency standards for stronger results on the ground.
