As Development Partner co-chair of the Technical Working Group on Mine Action, UNDP congratulates the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) on the successful development and adoption of the National Mine Action Policy 2026–2035.

The National Mine Action Policy provides a clear and ambitious vision of a Cambodia free from the impact of explosive ordnance, enabling sustainable livelihoods while fostering peace, stability and development.

UNDP has accompanied Cambodia’s mine action journey since 1992, when humanitarian mine action began during the United Nations peacekeeping operation. Early UNDP support included UN Trust Funds for demining and technical and advisory support to CMAC, helping build Cambodia’s mine clearance capacity. Following the establishment of CMAA in 2000, UNDP expanded its support to strengthen national institutional capacity, coordination and oversight of the mine action sector.

Since 2006, through the Clearing for Results programme, UNDPand CMAA have mobilised USD 100 million to support mine clearance, stronger sector governance, gender mainstreaming, victim assistance, evidence-based planning and resource mobilisation.

Thank you to all our development partners and donors who, over the years, have supported our joint work. Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and Switzerland have been among the programme’s top funding partners. Over the years, we have channelled support from Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.

More than 430 km² of contaminated land had been cleared and released, benefiting more than 1.3 million people, approximately half of them women, by June 2026. Rehabilitation centres served 51,520 persons with disabilities, including 23,400 mine and ERW survivors, from 2020 to June 2026.

As Cambodia moves towards its goal of becoming mine-free by 2030, UNDP remains committed to working with the Royal Government, CMAA and development partners to support the implementation of the National Mine Action Policy 2026–2035, build on progress achieved and translate continued investments into lasting results for communities.
