The Open-Source Programme Office (OSPO) of Trinidad and Tobago is strengthening the country's ability to understand, adopt, govern and sustain open-source technologies in support of digital transformation and better public services.

Established under the Open-Source Ecosystem Enabler (OSEE) initiative, the OSPO brings together government institutions, academia, developers, private sector actors, civil society and development partners to build local capability and foster collaboration around open technologies.

More than a technology initiative, the OSPO is helping create an ecosystem where knowledge, innovation and solutions can be shared, adapted and sustained for the benefit of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Challenge

Countries increasingly depend on digital technologies to deliver services, support economic growth and respond to citizens' needs. Yet many institutions face challenges in accessing skills, maintaining systems, ensuring sustainability and adapting digital solutions to local contexts.

For Small Island Developing States such as Trinidad and Tobago, these challenges can be amplified by limited technical capacity, fragmented knowledge networks and resource constraints.

The OSPO addresses these challenges by strengthening local expertise, promoting knowledge exchange and encouraging the responsible use of open-source technologies.
