Across Kosovo, municipalities are working to manage public resources more transparently while ensuring local development reflects community priorities. Developing these capacities is essential for more inclusive local governance and active community involvement.

To support this effort, the Association of Kosovo Municipalities (AKM), a ReLOaD Programme grantee through the project Strengthening Participatory Democracy, is helping municipalities expand and apply the ReLOaD approach.

As part of the initiative, municipal officials participated in capacity-building sessions focused on public financing for civil society organizations (CSOs) and community development projects. Through interactive training, they upgraded their skills in project planning, implementation, monitoring, and transparent grant management. The sessions also promoted collaboration and the exchange of experiences, equipping participants to manage public funding more effectively and strengthen cooperation with civil society.

Among the participants was Ajshe from the Municipality of Kamenicë/Kamenica, who described the training as a valuable opportunity to expand her knowledge of accountable public funding and project management.

She noted that the approach aligns with current municipal regulations and fosters a more equitable, standardized grant management system that encourages openness, responsibility, and equal access for applicants. Reflecting on the training, Ajshe said it strengthened both her technical skills and confidence in applying good grant management practices.

"I learned a great deal, and I believe this approach clearly demonstrates how municipalities can work more productively with civil society organizations," she said
