Philippines to Lead ASEAN Member States in Advancing Climate Finance and Policy Action at ASEAN Climate Week 2026

ASEAN Member States (AMS) to drive regional action and translate commitments into actionable investments and policy tools at the upcoming ASEAN Climate Week 2026

April 26, 2026

Manila, Philippines, 29-30 April 2026 – ASEAN Member States (AMS) will gather virtually for a two-day knowledge exchange during ASEAN Climate Week to discuss better ways to fund climate initiatives and integrate climate risks into national economic planning.

The initiative is led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership with the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Department of Finance, with support from the Governments of the United Kingdom and Sweden through the Climate Finance Network and Canada through the Accelerating Green and Climate Finance project.

The two-day online event will help countries move from high-level climate commitments to taking real action. Participants will get insights on how to develop better plans for funding climate projects, track where that money is going, and use new digital tools to make smarter, fact-based decisions for their citizens.

On the first day, discussions will center on climate finance frameworks across AMS, including their national strategies, adaptation finance guidelines, and systems for tracking climate finance flows. Participating countries will share approaches and experiences in mobilizing public and private investments for climate action.

On the second day, sessions will focus on climate-economy modelling, introducing tools that will support governments in predicting the economic impacts of climate change,\, the long-term costs of climate change, and the economic benefits of going green. These tools help leaders make decisions based on data and evidence.

Participating countries are expected to share their experiences, explore innovative financing mechanisms, and identify opportunities for regional collaboration.

To keep the conversation engaging, the programme will feature a live artist who will create "doodle art" in real-time, visually drawing out the most important ideas from the discussion as they happen.

Interested participants may sign up and register for the ASEAN Climate Week through this link: https://seads.adb.org/events/asean-climate-week-2026.
