UNDP Receives High Recognition from the MFA for 32 Years of Sustainable Collaboration in Tajikistan

As UNDP marks 60 years globally, this first meeting also celebrated 32 years of meaningful partnership and progress in Tajikistan.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan (MFA), welcomed the newly appointed UNDP Tajikistan Resident Representative, Sudipto Mukerjee. This first meeting took place as UNDP globally turns 60, and in Tajikistan, it marks its 32nd anniversary.

As a leading UN agency, UNDP has received high recognition for its outstanding contributions to the country’s development over the past 32 years.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin expressed deep appreciation for UNDP’s pivotal role, commending the organization for its exceptional work in key areas.

The Minister further highlighted with appreciation UNDP’s support for the preparatory work for:

-Glaciers Conference in Dushanbe this year;

- Tajikistan’s participation in the COP29 in Baku;

- Developing Tajikistan’s green economy; 

- Upgrading the professional caliber of the diplomatic cadre.

The Minister also requested that UNDP continue supporting the Universal Periodic Review on Human Rights. 

Sudipto Mukerjee, UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan, expressed gratitude for the Government’s acknowledgment. He emphasized UNDP’s unwavering commitment to assisting Tajikistan in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

“We sincerely thank MFA for their enduring partnership throughout these 32 years,” said Sudipto Mukerjee. “Together, we will continue working hand in hand to drive Tajikistan’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and build a prosperous future for all.”

In response, the Minister of Foreign Affairs described UNDP as a trusted and valuable partner and conveyed his best wishes to Mr. Mukerjee in his leadership role.
