New York: The third International Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3) convened by the United Nations and Member States, will be held in Awaza, Turkmenistan from 5-8 August, under the theme- ‘Driving Progress through Partnerships’.

The Awaza Programme of Action (APoA) for Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) for the decade 2024–2034 was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 24 December 2024.

The APoA represents a renewed and strengthened global commitment to support the development aspirations of the 32 LLDCs located in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, to explore solutions and forge partnerships, address challenges and unlock their full potential for a more equitable and prosperous future.

UNDP with its long-standing partnership with all 32 LLDCs will showcase successful initiatives, share knowledge and solutions that brought transformative results during the Vienna Programme of Action (VPoA) implementation, during the last ten years.

Going forward, UNDP will provide continued support in digital transformation, disaster risk reduction, integrated biodiversity-climate action, helping countries utilize the mineral resources to drive domestic development and support local communities and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), sustainable energy, trade facilitation and market integration, financing development, gender equality, and promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
