Handover ceremony
Today, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UNDP and Kajaran municipality to advance water management and maintenance service in the community.
With the help of UNDP, a new model for water management, Mobile Water Supply System Management and Maintenance Workshop, will be piloted in Kajaran amalgamated municipality. This new model will enhance the efficiency of community-based water services, particularly in responding to the needs of refugees and host communities, within the framework of the "Resilience for All" project.
UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili emphasized that the initiative is aligned with the RA Government’s ongoing reforms in the water sector and is aimed at ensuring safe, accessible, and sustainable water services, especially for the most vulnerable.
UNDP is proud to contribute to these national objectives through practical, community-based interventions like this one. By supporting municipalities such as Kajaran in piloting innovative services, we are helping to ensure that critical infrastructure – including irrigation, water supply, and drainage systems – is maintained efficiently and equitably.
Deputy Head of Kajaran Municipality, Zohrab Arakelyan highlighted the importance of the strong partnership between UNDP and the Kajaran community, emphasizing that their continued collaboration is essential to achieving the core mandate of local government: providing high-quality, accessible services to all residents, leaving no one behind.
This important achievement was made possible through the financial support of the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and the co-financing of the Kajaran Municipality. The partnership reflects a successful model of collaboration, community engagement, and a shared commitment to sustainable development goals.
This initiative was implemented within the framework of the "Resilience for All" project, carried out by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Armenia, and with financial support of NORAD.
